Turns Out God Doesn’t Need My Blueprints
“As you follow Me, I lead you along paths of newness, ways you have never imagined.” — Sarah Young, Jesus Calling
That line from my morning devotional stopped me. God isn’t promising to fix the old path — He’s promising to lead us onto one we’ve never dreamed of. That means the future He has for us may look nothing like the one we planned.
Over the past months, my own expectations have been dismantled. Work shifted. School began. Writing deepened. Old plans fell away. I’ve been unemployed, studying, writing a book for my grandsons, doing daily devotionals — and somewhere in the middle of all that, something changed.
Instead of feeling lost, I’m beginning to feel… prepared.
We don’t lose our future when God tears down our plans.
We make room for the one He’s been building all along.
Maybe God clears the path not to punish us, but to guide us into something new — something we couldn’t have imagined even a few months ago.
If your plans feel shattered, take heart. You might be standing at the doorway of a path shaped by His goodness, not your expectations.
I’m choosing to step forward, hands trembling, but open.
